The Power of Viral Referrals

In today’s post, I want to talk about referrals. No matter what business you are in, referrals can be a HUGE income generator.

According to a survey conducted by eMarketers.com: “More than half (53%) of Internet users had visited websites referred by friends or family members in the previous 30 days.

In fact, some businesses end up ending their other advertising efforts because they can keep busy with referral biz. You should always build the kind of online business that relies on different marketing sources.

The American oil magnate John D. Rockefeller says, “I would rather earn 1% off a 100 people’s efforts than 100% of my own efforts.

Just imagine “automatic” sales that come to your site without you lifting a finger; targeted traffic stream in your sales page day after day with no effort on your part. The best day of business life is when traffic and sales are completely automatic as other people are doing all the work on your behalf.

Lately, I’ve been getting HUGE referrals on various viral traffic/link building services which give me massive free traffic and considerable commissions each and every month.

I have since stopped the advertising the last few months… but I’m still getting organic results, referrals and repeat income:

Free Traffic System Referrals

Free Traffic System Links
(More than 5,000 free links to any web page I want to advertise)

earning
(Recurring income each and every month)

The potential can be endless because there’s good chance that you may recruit  some super affiliate referrals!

In fact, over time many affiliates earn more from their super affiliate referrals than their own traffic converting. The viral referral indeed gives you super earning potential.

I totally agree, the larger and deeper connections you make with your network the more referrals you will receive. Referrals is the most effective way to build a business. While you can’t directly control how referrals are made, you can create an environment in which they can be made easily. Hi Henry, I agree that most people find sites on a referral basis. That was what I also found out on my Blog Site.

The American oil magnate John D. Rockefeller says, “I would rather earn 1% off a 100 people’s efforts than 100% of my own efforts.”

    LOL!

I love this quote. It’s something many entrepreneurs don’t get, I think…that the goal is to work less for more.

And loved your article too. Thanks!

    Referrals are quite good.

The company I work in the real world enjoys a very healthy flow of referrals. In fact we have trouble processing and satisfying all the orders.

But that’s a good problem to have.

It also seems to help with the positioning of your service, product or website the better the quality of your referral.

  • Jason Caluori December 4, 2010 at 9:02 am

I’m really working on viral marketing as we speak. Exciting stuff and also why I’m up at 2 AM…

  • Peter Lommet December 13, 2010 at 9:48 am

This is great. I will follow your advice, I believe this will help me a lot!
And one point from me – http://whatsworkingnowreport.com/?p=156
An interesting article about internet possibilities to get money.

  • ReadnDownload December 13, 2010 at 5:26 pm

I totally agreed with your point. I believe 90% of sales is confirmed when some one is referred compared to advertising. Most people trust their friends. When friends refer them, it means something good about the products.

  • Jack - Arkansas Marketer December 13, 2010 at 6:29 pm

You are right, referrals from friends and family is becoming more and more vital to any web business. Facebook and Twitter make sharing what you like on the Web very easy. So easy that it can be a whole marketing strategy in and of itself.

It just so happens that because of a referral I am at this site. This is a great concept, being able to get traffic to your site through some ones referral goes a lot farther than someone just browsing. Building a good relationship with people and being a respectable contributor goes a long way.

People want quality useful content they can use not and will come back to you if you provide it. More importantly they will tell everyone they know to help their friends.

I am looking foreword to your ATM course.

I am also curious you mentioned you no longer doing advertising, how long did that take?

    Thanks Henry and Merry Christmas.

    Chad.

After reading your post my mind stopped at your quote of Rockefeller it’s brilliant – earning money of other people’s efforts – even 1% if you can motivate enough people to work with you in a manner that benefits both of you – you end up making a lot of money, and you’ll feel good that you have done so by helping others make money too. Brilliant.

By the way I checked out Auto Traffic Magnet and so far I think it’s pretty cool.

Happy New Year to everyone !

  • Adelaide SEO January 11, 2011 at 11:44 am

great article, Henry. I am really enjoying reading about your successes and how to implement them. Thanks for sharing all your excellent online business tips.

  • Ryan Critchett January 12, 2011 at 5:34 pm

Definitely a great point – I think massively unique (absolutely doing what no one else is doing) content is the best SEO (which creates virality, a new word)

    Nice post.

  • Note Taking Nerd #2 January 17, 2011 at 8:31 pm

I too love the quote by Rockefeller!

It seems that in his mastermind with Henry Ford, Andrew Carnegie and Thomas Edison, that they all came to the conclusion that one of the best ideas you could ever take action on was to surround yourself with and hire people who were smarter than you were.

All of these guys were great at marketing and networking and they left all the technical, scientific, and menial expertise to the guys they could pay a salary too.

This little tool you put together seems to offer this kind of leverage that frees you up to stay focused on marketing your business.

Wishing you massive success with it!

  • L. February 19, 2011 at 10:34 pm

    That’s an excelent tool.
All ways to automate my bussines process are welcome.

  • paul nicholls blog June 10, 2011 at 10:26 am

ive been focusing a lot more on viral traffic recently because the results you get from it are pretty insane

ive been using a new face book plug in recently and it certainly is a game changer, i have an example on one of my blog posts

i think we all should be leveraging social madia and especially face book to build our businesses

a few years ago it was youtube, now it is facebook as we all know thigs come and go. Youtube is still good but its a lot more saturated and also youtube accounts get deleted far too easily these days and all your videos and hard work go to waste

    good post though

    thanks

    paul

Sometimes the hardest part is getting those first referrals, and then it just takes off from there.

  • Pilot Shop October 4, 2011 at 12:01 am

I agree with Kevin. The first referrals are the hardest. I tend to notice referrals then become very viral so long as you off a competitive product.
