Acquire BASIC Skills in Your Online Business
Today I want to tell you something that has nothing to do with online marketing, affiliate program, or anything like that.
I want to tell you something different.
When I started my online business, I had only $100 in my hand. After paid for the domain and the web host, I had almost no money left. So I spent all night searching free website templates to build my first website.
Who did the html coding? I did.
Who did the graphics? I did.
And who did the domain and web host configuring?
It was me again.
I did these complex things all myself.
You thought I was born to do these? In fact I knew nothing when I started up. I was insanely searching on Google in order to find everything I want to know to set up my first website – and finally I made it running.
The fact is: You just need to master these “tools of business”. You must acquire these BASIC skills that are needed in your business.
Most likely other online marketing mentors won’t teach you this in their courses, but I’m willing to do this for you because I believe you really must understand this.
You may think I’m totally off topic by trying to get you to learn some Photoshop elements, basic copywriting principles, basics of Dreamweaver and so on. You may also think you can outsource them on Elance.
You just don’t need to become a master. But the basics sure help. You can save lot of money if you are just starting up. And as you grow successful, you outsource more and more.
Did you know?
Not all but MOST of the people who are extremely successful in this business can do the basics. They can do at least some graphics. They can do html. They can create copy.
I know it clearly that html, copywriting, graphics aren’t easy to learn. They can be nightmares for some people. The bottom line is it KEEPS others from competing with you.
But there are still many ways you can get the skills.
I remember one of the most successful marketer Derrick VanDyke ever said:
“Learn The Basics Or You’ll Be Chasing Your Tail Forever”
No words are truer.
And the fact is you don’t have to pay anything to learn all the basic stuff. You can find dozens for free tutorials online.

Just learn to do it for a few days, you’ll be shocked at what you can do.
95% of people won’t actually to take actions to make their dreams come true. That is GREAT news for you. It’s a good thing. Those people are easy to compete against.
Just by going to a webinar or watching a video and actually taking action on what you’ve learned, you’re already in the top 5%.
When you get the basic skills in place, you are preparing yourself for success 🙂

I remember the first time I started my own website, what a nightmare, several hours later not even the 1st page done. First thought was to quit. As you said wouldnt give up and started searching. The answers are out there. I love your article and wisdom shared here. I dont have a business website exactly but it does make me some money.
I am considering getting a business site going tho, and the thought of doing myself doesn’t bother me now. You just have to roll up your sleeves and learn. Then you have to apply what you learn. I usually trust the advice you give…until today. The “free” Hot Marketing Video Starter Membership site is a scam! I joined and the stuff newbies (like me) really need to know…such as how to load your products to a protected file, how to make your files downloadable for your customers, etc….are NOT ACCESSABLE as a free member! Even though these videos are listed in the free membership area. When you click to watch those videos, you will be taken to a “buy this package” page every time. So, that’s a scam. Not one “guru” whom promises to show newbies how to do those things ever does…without a price tag attached. You want to sell me something? Give me the info you promised first…gain my trust…then we’ll do business. I’m surprised you’re pushing that particular site. Don’t believe me? Join as a free member, try to click on the “how to make your files downloadable by your customers” link.

I’m sorry that the Marketing Video Starter doesn’t work out for you. But trust me, it’s not a scam. It’s just a site that so old and the video links may have broken. I know it used to work well because I joined it a long time ago.
I’m not supposed to be making cash with this site because I know the conversion of the OTO sucks 😉
Maybe I should recommend another newbie video site for you guys
